Your self-discovery over the next 5 days will reveal your inner purpose and open up opportunities in your life that you never knew were there. It is about understanding your destiny.
“You are what your deepest desire is. As your desire is, so is your intention. As your intention is, so is your will. As your will is, so is your deed. As is your deed, so is your destiny.” — excerpt from The Chopra Centers, 5-Step Guide Manifest the Life of your Dreams.
As you begin working through the process you will become aware of many aspects of your life that you may have forgotten or didn’t realize were connected. The outcome of your journey over the next five days is to turn up the volume of the voice inside you so it becomes clear and resonates with who you are. Much of what you will discover are things you already know but never viewed in a way that made sense. The outcome is to have your inner voice become your guiding voice, blocking out all of the noise and opinions you hear from others.
Reaching success in life is when your inner voice becomes louder than all of the noise coming from outside in the world. You become in control of your life, free and with clear lenses so you begin to see the world in a completely new way. It doesn’t matter your age. Finding a purpose to live is just at important at 65 as it is at 20.
The steps you will follow require self-exploration and reflection so I encourage you to take your time and complete one lesson per day.
In today’s lesson I want to lay the ground work of what you will accomplish over the next 5 days so you can begin preparing yourself.
First, let me just state, that this 5 day journey will be challenging but rewarding. You will be provided with worksheets each day to help guide you through the process. Each daily exercise should not take more than 30 minutes. You will be reflecting and bringing up past experiences that may revive feelings of joy or sorrow. It is important that you complete the instructions for each day since the next day builds on what you accomplished in the previous day.
The time between completing each lesson should be used for reflection and soul searching on why you wrote down the things you did for that particular day’s exercise. If new ideas or memories come up, go back to your worksheets for the day and write them down.
My suggestion is to write down the activities for each day using the worksheets provided and writing your answers in pencil or pen. By actually writing down your answers instead of typing them into a computer will help lay the groundwork of connecting and reflecting. At the end of this process you will be reviewing each day’s exercise together and will need to layout your work on a table to review. If you chose to type your answers then you will need to print out all of your work on day 5 so everything is in front of you to review.
Are you ready? Let’s get started.
To get started in your journey to discovering your purpose I want you to take a piece of paper and at the top write the year you were born. At the bottom write 2020. You can also print out (pdf) or type (MSWord doc) on the Day 1 template that is included with this lesson. Now list as many major milestones that you can remember about your life starting from the day you were born. Think about your life chronologically in 3-5 year increments. Write the year and then what milestone, event, or happening in your life you can remember.
Just list the events. You may wish to brainstorm with a family member or a close friend. If you need some refreshers, go back and look at past pictures, videos or yearbooks to help stimulate thoughts on your past. You don’t need to go into details on any specific event. The purpose is to refresh your memory of past events in your life that you can remember. It doesn’t matter if it was positive or negative. If you remember it, write it down. If you remember something and can’t remember the year, just write it down to as close to when you think it happened. Don’t worry if everything is not exact.
Don’t take more than 30 minutes to complete this exercise. The purpose is to just refresh your memory on key milestones in your life to get your creative juices flowing for the exercises over the next 4 days.
That’s it. You’re done for today. Move to Lesson 2 tomorrow.
